The other day I realized that I haven't really worked on any "real paintings" since I graduated last May. There's a lot of pressure once you graduate, from any program, about what you're going to do next. I've mostly just been working on studies, works on paper, re-working old paintings, and commissions, which I am very thankful for.
Maybe it's because it's still early in the new year, but I am now feeling highly motivated to start working on some new pieces. I've got an exhibition coming up in June, which is still quite a ways away, but I think it's gonna come up pretty fast, so I want to get cracking on some new work for that. I just started working on this piece last week, and if all goes well then it will likely end up in that show. It feels really good to get back to work on a large scale canvas.
